Help Indy Online is the primary program of the Emergent Leadership Institute and is dedicated to connecting students with volunteer opportunities to help them make a difference in their community.
They recently launched a revamped version of its web site to help connect local teens with volunteer opportunities tailored to their interests. The key to the success of the site is building a communication link between the three stakeholders: students, teachers, and the volunteer coordinators.
The site allows each group to manage their own content, while teachers are able to collaborate with volunteer coordinators to audit and track service hours spent by the students. Additionally, the site content is managed by the individual parties to keep organization information and volunteer opportunities up to date.
The robust search mechanism brings all of the pieces together, making it simple for students to quickly match their interests to opportunities the meet their schedule.
